Anglesey

We may be bringing the Ribeye 550 to Anglesey for a couple of days in Spring and wonder where is recommended to launch, bearing in mind that we only have a 2wd car so need a concrete slipway really? We haven't yet decided where to cruise to but like the idea of Puffin Island and attempting to navigate the Menai Straits but I suppose the weather will have a say in what we do. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Anglesey launching site.

Hi, if you search Chris Caton on the forum, he can provide the slipway, and all of your other requirments, based in exactly the right place for you, tractor launching, great guy, with a very helpfull, friendly set-up, as i'm sure others on the forum will echo. Launched our Osprey there, had a fantastic day on the Straits, trailer was looked after, and back in the water behind the tractor upon our return, cant be beaten, search Ty Calch on boat launch for more info and pictures.

Broomy, nearly right, but it's not me it's Chris Seddon that he needs for the slip at Ty Calch, but other than that you're spot on, tractor launch bad recovery, good parking and Chris & Tom will park your trailer as well depending on the weather you've got The Straits to Puffin Island and beyond to explore, or out across Caernafon Bar into Caernarfon Bay

Hi Traveller
Sound information and advice from Mr Caton as usual. I launch my Ribeye 550 at Chris's place all the time like a lot of people. There is plenty of great exploring to be done in this area weather you go east through the straits to puffin and beyond or head west to llandwyn island. I'll be out and about if you want some company

what are you planning for accommodation? chris seddon does indeed provide a great service, but if you want a decent campsite with its own slipway then penrhyn bay near holyhead is a good option. ok its not as sheltered as the straits but does offer good cruising with plenty of wildlife and some amazing scenery.
