Anglesey - Places to moor

For the summer holidays we have a holiday cottage in Conway, and I am taking the RIB.

I am trying to plan a few days out boating from Conway, and one place the family want to visit is Anglesey, so I am thinking of Beaumaris for a pub lunch and plenty of bits to do.

I need somewhere to leave the boat for a few hours, anyone have any idea's - I have only ever launched from Beaumaris, and I know the pier isnt really set-up to leave the boat while we walk for a dinner and shopping.

Anglesey - Places to moor

Looks like Beaumaris by boat is a no go...

Should of used the search function, I do agree its such a same they don't have anything on the new jetty they built.

holyhead marina - friends of mine tie up there, pay the fee and go eat at the bistro

Gazelle hotel. Tie up on the jetty and watch it whilst eating/drinking, or one of the runners in front of the pub.

Caernarfon marina for a few hours on visitor pontoons - couple of hours either side if HW

Porth dinorwic marina, as above.

Thanks everyone, but most of the above are a little far from town, so no shopping (not a bad thing).

The Gazelle is a lovely option, and will try for that one day - had may good hours having a beer in the sun watching my RIB while SWMBO has fun crabbing..

I think the only real option I have is Caernarfon, pull into Doc Vic, looking at tides low water is about 14:00 on the days we are around, so in before they close the gate, then stay until they open again.

Must remember to update my charts....

Mine still have Caernarfon and Port Dinorwic on the 'mainland', not Anglesey

Agree with all the above though. Caernarfon and the marina at PD are really the only places to tie up for a few hours and go exploring.

Always one!!

On the list is Anglesey, but as this isn't possible really by boat I have had to look at other options for days out...

Steve, in all seriousness, get yourself a picnic/bbq together one day (when there's no north or east in the wind) and pay a visit to the old brickworks at Porth Wen on the north coast of Anglesey. From Conwy, head toward Middle Mouse and turn left into the bay at Porth Wen, keeping an eye out for pot markers as you hit the 20m contour.

Not done the brick works, but looks like one to remember.

Normally use the old ship building yard at Amlwch, take a camping stove and have a relaxing chill-out..

The issue is that people who don't want to boat will go by car - so needed somewhere we could all meet up for the day and leave the boat to shop and have a pub lunch, hence the plan B at Doc Vic
