another idea down the drain..........

Have just ome back from vacation in Grand Canaria. Marvelleous weather .
Reason was to also finalize formalities with local Guardia about putting rib down there for next 4 months. They told me in no uncertain terms that the boat would be confiscated for at least 4 months until they verified who I was and if my intentions were honorable. Apparantly ANY boat sporting more than a 100 hp sends jitters down their spines as regards drugs and people running. Anybody heard this one before?? . They also told me they would have no qualms in locking me up as well if I wanted to test their resolve. If I was Codders could understand their resentment......

But do you do the grease job "before" or " after"????
I was in the Argunniequin region and they have a real funny looking Rib - it has the same engines as mine - but their is a sort of bar at the stern going from one side of the transom to the other. The rib was about 8 meters and very wide. He could only do 40 odd knots.

Motor guard? A lot of boats used primarily in harbors here have a sort of crash cage built out past the motors, just in case you back into something, I guess.

Its not that Codders- there are EU laws and NOBODY follows them. Take the situation about boats and detaxed fuels ( not VAT but excise duty) -
Excise duty on autuomtive fuels is ONLY applicable to ROAD vehicles- ( DERV- Diesel engine Road Vehicle) but all governments do what they like... Everybody talks about harmonisation - but there aint any!!!!.
When you are governed by a load of bureaucrats- that what happens. Its not only the EU , but the whole lot- UK included. Just name me one person who has got any balls in this marvelleous EU??? Got an idea JONO!!!! and or Garfish

Spain seems to be Ok- but the canaries - you are looking at about 350 kms to Morroco. Grand Canaria also has a detention center for illegals - which happens to be quite full.
