Another "Marine" Rip Off

NGK - IZFR6F11 Spark Plugs for Honda 175-225 engines...

I can see these available from a number of sources on eBay. The ones listed in the Marine section are all very expensive whilst there are others listed under bikes or cars for almost a third of the price. For example

Listed under Bikes - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-Spark-...item19cd986502

Listed under boats - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-SPARK-...item53ec2bb8ab

Whats the difference ? are there varients of the IZFR6F11 for different applications or is this just another example of the big Marine Rip-Off !!!

I'd noticed that with plugs for the 9.8hp Cheepity cheep from the biker boys, pricey from the marine bouys. Same stuff, AFAIK.

Ditto with the IZFR5G plugs my opti takes. Anything up to 28 quid a pop from 'marine' sources, but I paid 8 quid each for them. Turns out they are also specced for a Mazda 3.

I did have a source for opti plugs £15 for a box of 4. Will try to find an email address later.

He's sold out at the moment. I'll post on here if he gets more in.

I bought five plugs for my Honda aux and Soozi 90 for a total of under 10 quid including postage off ebay recently.
I certainly wasn't paying the prices the "marine" sellers wanted.
If it has the same code its the same plug.

Yes I am all for good and cheap. But I thought they had to have the 'Z' in the code for suppression.

I took the codes for mine straight from the manual. All the right NGK plugs were available for around £1.50 a pop.
No mention of extra Z's in the manual!

The plugs are exactly the same, no difference whether it's from marine or biker sections.

If any of you have any 'relevant' qualifications, you could get a Trade Card at Halfords. Surprisingly the prices for single plugs aren't too bad, although more obscure ones need to be ordered for next day.
Trade card is primarily for vehicle mechanics, but most stores would also accept any marine or engineering qualifications as well.
Might help some of you

Yep, same story here, re- plugged for £12 and even more hilarious "marine markup" for HT leads:

During the rebuild I replaced the entire set of HT leads on the Clamshell for the princely sum of £7.50 from my local Auto factors.....
