Anyone got a Cabin Rib Zodiac N-Z0?

Hi All

I am new to Ribnet having sulked away for many years on YBW.com, and have decided to get a dayboat for the North Wales coastline, and what I really like is the new Zodiac N-Z0.

Did anyone read the article in september Motor Boat Monthly on Cabin Ribs? the Zodiac N-Z0, looks pretty good as a day boat, and the review was good apart from the comment on power. I was thinking about a RIB or maybe a small cuddy sports boat anyway as an option for day boating, and the idea of a RIB with the addition of a dry area and a loo for the swmbo makes it look a good package, and the pricing is pretty OK as well.

It seems to cover the odd overnight, the good day out, ski-ing and fishing, and good handling, and with a better engine, could be a nice package, and I can dry store it or tow it.

For those who havent seen it, its nearly 7m, with a 3.2m beam, and is priced from £37,000 - currently it has a 225hp outboard, although it looks as though there may be a faster option available.

Strikes me as a good deal, and I hope to take a look at the model they have at Southampton boat show, but would be interested if anyone has actually been in one, or test driven it?

Thanks

MartynK

They also reviewed it in Sports Boat and RIB, either in June or July. Review seemed okay - as a genuine entry into the cabin rib market. Unfortunately there were no internal pictures, which seems crazy for a full boat review. Knowing Zodiac, everything will be an option. Colour scheme also looks a bit iffy - but that's just my personal taste.

Is this the N-Z0 you are looking for ? If so, seems 2 EFI 90 HP are much cheaper than 1 225 HP, this boat is complete cracyness for local use as the Pacific is very calm. This one has a central drive seat and 2 lateral seats. For that price, an expensive new kid at the marina indeed.

Happy Ribbing

I found some images of the internal cabin - not the most luxury in the world, but not bad for the size of the RIB.

Hi

Excuse the ignorance, but is this a Zodiac rib? If so, I can't find it on the zodiac ribs site.

I was looking at your site, especially the poker run. That's a nifty looking machine in pic 5. What is it?

Pretty basic internally. For a similarly priced sportsboat (not RIB), the level of specification would be far superior. However, you're paying for its sea-keeping abilities, so I suppose you have to weigh up the pros and cons.

Tx Tony,

No, it's not the Extreme, great boat tho. that is. It is the one on the Poker Run, but page 2 (the motor boat, not the rib).

Not driven it as there is only one in the country at the moment and thats at SBS but did get the opertunity to go out on it yesterday Very Nice i do like it very much !

But 37K buys boat only

boats are 30k 37k 44k depending on spec plus engine/s

realisticly for a fully specced boat with say twin 150's you are looking at nearly 70 K (yikes)

but still a lovely ride dry smooth quiet would like one if i had the money spare !

Tried the Zodiac out on Saturday, whilst we only went out to the demo area and the speed was restricted to a max of 25kts, the ride was very soft.
The 225 engine seemed too little for this boat, it is very wide!
Would like to see and try it with a 300. Unless you can get a very good deal on an engine, this will push the money up to silly prices, as the middle spec and upwards would only realistic. In the base spec at £37000, you dont even get a back rest for the rear bench!

Of concern, we did seem to get some cavitation in the turn, could be down to the beam, driver or engine set-up.

Still like it though

Hi Yes were getting same problems with cavitation, I would guess its down to set up as the one at the show is a pre production model

it would be intsreting with a couple of 150 e tecs on the back

Beam is Huge over 10 foot inflated and the tubes are over 2' wide

i reckon it could stand another 2-4 foot in lenght quite easily, i guess it depends what you want from your boating

I like the cabin its plain whilst not trying to be to fussy but at the same time 60-70 k expectation is high !

what do you do if you want a Cuddy/crusier trailerable with seperate loo able to fish wakeboard ski and if nessasary sleep on it with out roughing it to much, but at the same time you NEED some thing that can handle the lumpy stuff well and keep you and your family dry

I have a zodiac Medline and whilst i know its not the best handling boat on the market its comfotable and more importantly the wife and kids like it which when you live 120 miles from the sea/boating area its a family affair

and if they lose intrest then it would ultimatly restrict my boating time !

Cheers Andy
