Our goal:

OK, little update then.
Must confess, actually we're busy to build a new vessel..

Hull has been sanded to the glassfiber.
Then we corrected all the old damages on sprayrails, etc, with home mixed epoxy resin glue, which has been sanded with the belt machine to make things straight and have correct angled hooks again.

After that, we doubled the complete hull with 320gr woven layers of glass, which has been finished with a double 25gr woven glassfiber (out of one piece fabric from the back to the front).

As a finish, the complete boat got a nice thick new layer of coloured (UV-res) epoxy-gel, which has been sanded and straightened again and then got a second layer of coloured epoxy-gel.

In january, the complete hull will get a epoxy based lacker in the same colour to finish like new.

The deckplate is ready to be made to fit next friday: 2000x6000x6mm 5083 alu (about 200kg).

Also the stainless steel fueltank is ready te be mounted: 329l we hope to be enough for weekend trips.

In spring, the tube will be mounted, which is waiting in a big big box allready.
New made in UK by Paul Tilley. Matt black with navy-grey wear patches.

It's custom made stainless steel and has a network of stringers and baffles inside.
We live at the side of a river, which runs into a big lake and then into the Northsea.
A trip we usually did with a previous boat, was to go to one of the touristic Dutch islands at the and back. That's about 300km total. This tank has been designed to make us able to day that without refueling..

A bit of a noob question here!

Does the large planing pad make this a fast hull when you have plenty of stallions hanging of the back of the transom?

No, not really.
Becaus of the large flat area, you will not be able to reduce "wet surface" as much as a deep V hull would by getting more and more lift as the hp ingreases. Therefore this hull most probably will be slower then other hulls are with the same engine. The other way around, this hull shall be planing sooner then all other hulls, if using just little hp.

We expect not to have problems with this, while planning to use a 300hp outboard, which actually is a quite large outboard for the design anyway.

Who has a good advice for a deckhatch to be mounted in the floorboard?

We need a strong & watertight one for a reasonable price.

would suggest to get a 2nd hand Freeman or Baier aluminium hatch - have 2 in my boat and they are 100 pct watertight plus you can walk/ step on them without breaking the hatch and they provide good grip once you stand on them.
Alternatively but less good on 'grip' and also not 100 pct watertight would be a aluminium deck hatch (for example lewmar has them; these are ones with a window in it) but they are quite slippery if you are frequently standing on it. Maybe I have one still in the garage if that is of any interest (can check if you like)

Pricing of a Freeman or Baier new is most probably not your idea of reasonable (1400-1800 euros)

Actually found the 2 freeman hatches in our RIB via this forum so hopefully somebody has something in the backyard or garage ..... (?)
