maybe a touch overpowered eh Kerny

the RNLI atlantics I've looked at don't have a full transom, just a short upstand to mount the engines onto, but to be honest I don't remember them being that short, maybe it's been trimmed t mount the 50

the bow looks a bit odd as well, or could just be the photo is not doing it justice

not my cup of tea, that's for sure

It's not an RNLI Atlantic that we'd know and love, google RNLI Atlantic RIB and you'll see it's completely the wrong shape.

I think the ebay auction is misleading, maybe on purpose, but it's probably more likely the vendor doesn't have a clue about what he has.

The Vendor says in the action "I purchase her directly from Atlantic College in Wales so it has been designed for the RNLI"
That's his reference to RNLI and Atlantic.
It could have been designed as a prototype for another class, or something completely different, but the bow shape doesn't stack up.

As a training boat, or for harbour use only, the 50HP engine would be about right, it's obviously completely underpowered for any other use.

Knowing that Atlantic college designed the original RNLI boats it's highly possible that he's bought an Atlantic from Atlantic college but likely to be a proto type or a project rather than the spec we're used to seeing in orange.

You guys are correct.... The original Atlantic was designed at Atlantic college, and the transom less design was 'driven' by the fact that you get one hell of a swell straight up their slipway... V easy to swamp there when recovering etc. (learnt this from our own experience too )

The students at the college still design and build RIBs in the workshop there as projects....and they all have this transomless design. This is one of those project boats.... As such, the adverts reference to the RNLI is a bit tenuous tbh.

We stayed / worked out of there last year, just before the service boat was removed (Atlantic 75). Fab place, great bunch of people, and the sort of place I wish id gone to school.... You get to build RIBs for DT projects after all

Think there might be some pics of the student built boats which we posted on here somewhere? I struggle with this app!?!

And my taxes pay for that! I chose the wrong Uni. Mucking around in boats and girls in Lycra making hard things pop and spray everywhere.

I don't mind paying tax for that, better than May other courses.

Even better than that! It's an ibac (16 to 19 year olds) college, and is a charity.... Funded by alumni and donors.... International students from all sorts if backgrounds.... It's a really impressive set up.
