You guys are correct.... The original Atlantic was designed at Atlantic college, and the transom less design was 'driven' by the fact that you get one hell of a swell straight up their slipway... V easy to swamp there when recovering etc. (learnt this from our own experience too
)
The students at the college still design and build RIBs in the workshop there as projects....and they all have this transomless design. This is one of those project boats.... As such, the adverts reference to the RNLI is a bit tenuous tbh.
We stayed / worked out of there last year, just before the service boat was removed (Atlantic 75). Fab place, great bunch of people, and the sort of place I wish id gone to school.... You get to build RIBs for DT projects after all
