Attempted boat steal

I had a phone call from the police last night at around 01:35 in the morning asking me if I could return home as two people had attempted to steal my boat they had cut the hitch lock off and had cut the wheel lock off but the neighbors had heard the noise and gone out and chased them off they say the boat doesn't look damage and the engine and transom look ok as I am stuck down in London with my lorry that was not possible so they have stuck it in there drive and put the land rover in front of it here's hoping there is no damage just a reminder that some people can't help borrowing from the rest off us without asking scum bags

Hope all is OK. Even worse when you're a long way away.

Good on your neighbours

In the end all you can do is meet the insurance requirements, pay the policy & not worry about what might happen!

Unfortunately we have some travelers that moved in down the road two weeks ago and the police have had around 35 call outs since but not all travelers are the same so can't taint them with the same brush

Sounds like you were lucky, but they may well be back so suggest replacing and adding security if you can asap.

and that's from a man that knows!

Hopefully the poor mis-understood victims that carried out the crime won't have caused too much damage.

I bought a cheap £50 wifi camera from "geek", which sends alerts to my phone, if it sees anything different.....plug n play....that way, at least you can watch folk stealing your stuff....

Similar to this one:

geek.wish.com/share/5407mhgrgs

You need a little patience, for the slow boat from china, and a micro sd card.

This is what the picture looks like.....although yours may be different....

Update on boat no damage to the transom or engine but they have tryed to remove the lock on the engine as well but without success so dropping the boat off at the dealer's to have the lock changed and new wheel lock and hitch lock fitted getting four drop down steel lock unit for the front drive so they will need to make some noise to remove them plus CCTV being fitted in two weeks time with live view from my smart phone that's basically all I can do to stop them it will have motion detection on camera so will notify me when someone on drive way hope you all have good boating season when it comes and stay safe HH
