Auxiliary thoughts
Just fitted a Tohatsu 3.5 to my rig, seems to fit ok tight to the A frame.
I can steer to stern only with the 3.5 but am planning on using the main 65hp engine to steer. The 3.5 is well clear of the 65 leg and prop on full turn.
Any thoughts welcome on this setup.

Or to Port perhaps??
You should get decent steerage with the main motor.
I assume the aux won't fit on the starboard side, due to the steering cable getting in the way?
Your other option would be a transom mounted outboard bracket for the aux, which would set it back and hopefully allow some steerage.
Probably best to get out there and give it a try to see how it performs.

I had much the same problem which necessitated losing the A frame - so now I need somewhere to hang some lights instead...

Can you put the engine the other side of the engine? That way the tiller will be on the other side so might give you a bit more movement as it won't hit the a-frame

Will it have enough power to push you along especially with the main causing drag?
As for the steering I use a paddle or that’s the plan hope never to test it for real

The steering cables are in the way so this would be difficult.

On my Johnson 6hp aux it looks like you can probably loosen off a clamp holding on the tiller handle and swivel it round so it is slightly offset the other way - though I haven't tried this yet, need to do a test run first and see what it feels like. Might be worth seeing if you can do this?

When i was out with a freind it was necesary to use his aux on a 20ft fishing fibreglass hardboat and we used the main engine to steer with ,the aux was set in the forward position .This i thought was normal but not really given it any thought before. It was slow to steer but under the circumstance was good

Hope it will have enough power, I'll have to see.
Do you mean use a paddle like on a kayak? Rear rudder style?

It was also mounted on a s/s bracket that keeps the engine out the water whilst not in use would this not work for your rib. What is the norm their must be plenty on here that knows
