auxillary outboard for sea rider

I have a 4mtr sea rider deluxe with 40hp mariner which I use for diving & spearfishing from.Is it possible to fit an axillary outboard to this without strenghthening the transom. As I have the flooding hull the top of the transom is already quite low in water.Think I would have to block off flooding hull.Even though it looks tight I am sure I saw one on e bay with a 40hp with an auxillary. What size could I squeeze on if any?Thought please.

Jon, there is a shortage of little outboards at the moment because its the height of the season, so if you could wait until Oct or Nov then you might find a bargin. Just been looking for the same thing and ended up buying a new one from Fairweather Marine, but E Bay and Boats and Outboards would be a good start point.

As for the boat, well the small outboards are about 12 kgs so shouldn't worry about the transom if you have the room. You could use a block of teak or bracket to raise the aux up slightly.

6hp auxillary

Have bought a 6hp Johnson 2 stroke for my inflatable with a view as using it as an auxillary on the sea rider on londer trips.Once have bracket in place will let you know how it performs with extra weight.Believe transom rated 40hp max so having a 6hp auxillary isnt really right but will give it a try.
