Avon 4m searider

Hi just purchased Avon 4m searider and was unsure if I need long or short shaft engine? Any ideas thanks

Don't assume it's a long shaft-loads get cut down, though it's a bad idea

Does the transom have a cutout on it or is it flat across the top between the tubes?
