Avon rib 3.40, any good?

Have spotted one of these local. It looks a little faded, its 13 years old, but none of the seams look to be tearing etc.

Just wondering how they handle a chop etC?

Great boat. There are 2 types, the earlier ones with a pointy bow tube have a flattish hull - not so good in the rough, but arguably a better made boat (Llanelli made).

The later boats with a flat fronted bow tube have more depth to the hull and a moulded deck. These are better at dealing with chop, but need more power. They go really well with 25hp. Later versions have a bow locker, which is really handy.

I'll be selling mine soon as I'm just finishing off another one......

this one has a bow locker so I presume its the later.

i think its a bit underpowered with a 15hp 4 stroke.

They're ok with 15hp, provided you don't have more than 2 people on board. Much better boat with 25hp 2-stroke.
