Avon RIB refurb...HELP!!

Hi all,

Brand new to the forum, so apologies if this is a repeated thread!

I'm looking at refurbishing our unit's Avon 4.8m rib. Can people advise what the best paint to use and a step by step tutorial if there is one floating around!

It's going from grey tubing to blue tubing with the floor and hull going from yellow and orange to Grey.

Any advise would be welcomed!

Simon

talk to poly marine or rib shop re the tubes, and east coast resins re the floor flow coating they have video's showing prep and will also give you quantities you will need and any advice.

personally I wouldn't paint the floor, id flowcoat it, to do it right there is a decent amount of prep work involved but its very durable. What is happening with the console, is it being replaced or are you keeping the original? This can also be flowcoated but some people prefer to paint.

Here are a couple of refurbs ive done, they'll give you an idea what is involved.

I wouldn't paint the tubes paint is usually reserved for boats getting towards the end of their lives to stretch out a few more years
Colour changing with paint the boat will look tatty in no time as it will get scuffed and will probably lift and crack around seems etc revealing the original colour underneath . It will seriously affect resale value in future
Agree re the floor flowcoat is the way to go with polygrains or sawdust if you want a grippy finish
Sand is a bad idea as you can't sand it again to repair it easily once it's worn
