avon ribs...

Has anyone been in the new avon 7.2 if so any good?
Am looking at either a 6.2 with suzuki 140 four stroke with boat and trailer for new quoted price of 19,995 pounds but then saw the 7.2 advertised and the 200 hp rating would be lively but again costly so the thought of 1litre per mile is not so good. Failing that does anyone know of a RIB builder that produces a 6.2 metre plus RIB new for under £25,000 with a diesel that will do atleast 30 knots.

To quote Humber's advert from RIB International December 2002 - "UK's only Mercruiser certified installer of their 1.7 diesel inboard sterndrive. Top speed 40+ knots, fuel consumption 2 gallons per hour....." damn, why didn't I buy that one

At the time, the starting diesel package on that same advert was £18,665 inc vat, but the boat as seen on the ad was £23,495.
They had one of these smaller ocean pro ribs at the dive show in the nec last October, and it looked well tidy.

I guess you are looking initially at circa 6m and at Avons white lesuire range but if looking at the commercial 6 - 8m range you wont find a better hull, solid and when it gets rough with trounce the competition, though the weight makes them a little more thirsty.

For a 7.2m RIB, 1 ltr mile sound about right for the power.
