I recently obtained this Avon rover when I brought an engine I wanted. This lighter grey colour I think is maybe 90's or noughties. Most of the avon rovers you see are the dark grey with varnished ply floors, which I think are 1970's.
I was considering keeping this boat, as it was hypalon, yet slightly lighter than my Ali floor Yam. However, I didn't for the following reasons - it only has 2 chambers, not three. Also, the wooden floor doesn't go right to the bow, there is a small triangle from the keel valve forward with no floor. As I use the boat for fishing I quite like the security of 3 chambers in case I get a puncture. Similarly, with the floor, I didn't like the idea of a hook, lead weight, lure etc getting down the unprotected bit at the front.
Apart from these two peculiarities, it did seem like a nice boat and well built.
