avon searider

hi all just bought an early searider, really happy with her for the money I paid, it holds air well and tubes don't go down, it does need a bit of work on her tho before I use her, the inside and dashboard are original gel colour (orange ) and clean, the hull has been painted tho a long time ago by the looks of it, not sure if its paint or antifoul, Im going to remove the outboard and seats, tank etc then flip it upside down to repaint the hull, im going to flatten it off and hand brush/ roll the paint on , can anyone tell me what the best paint is to use, what shade of orange would be the nearest to original, I also want to make her a four seater if anyone has a set of original back to back seats for it please pm me price pics cheers, any advice much appreciated, also hears a few pics of her reece

Hi,

This is the style of Searider I wanted years ago but ended up with a rescue style. Mine had a Evinrude 50 on the back and was fantastic fun. It is one boat I could manage on my own launching, retrieving and was cheap to run - fantastic!
Hope you have as much fun with yours, anyway, for what it is worth I would suggest you use flow-coat which is like gel coat but can be painted on using a roller. You will need to rough the hull using possibly a flap wheel to allow the flow coat to key. Once done you will have a tough finish.
I know Humber sell flow coat and they have renovated Seariders in the past so the chance is they will know what shade of orange you will need.

Hiya

Nice SR

I have one with the Jockey-Console Layout, but this one is nice too.

Mine is painted in RAL2004, but i did all of it (bar the actual hull because its going to be underwater most of the time, and the Gelcoat was okay.

Love the classic layout..had one...loved it.

Get out in it then worry about if it really needs fettling or just using and enjoying :-)

Nice boat! Do you know the age of the engine? I've seen one similar for sale but age is unknown in the ad.

Cheers

Cheers
