Avon searider SR5.4 deck thickness

Dear All,

do you know what is the plywood thickness recommended for an Avon searider SR5.4? I am in the rebuilding process, but unfortunately, when I stripped out the (mostly rotten) floor I didn't take core samples. It seems total thickness is about 2cm or less, with about 4-5mm of fibreglass on each side. My estimates place the plywood thickness in most of the boat in about 10mm with a slightly thinner plywood close to the bow. I also noticed there is a curve towards the bow of the bow, so the deck is not completely flat.

Any pointers much appreciated.

Older thread here: https://www.rib.net/forum/f8/major-searider-rebuild-17490.html

They used 20mm but that seems pretty belt and braces, by the time you add in fibre-glass, etc.

Thank you very much spartacus, very helpful. I am doing something similar to my rib too, currently rebuilding the transom.

I found the thickness in this post: https://www.rib.net/forum/f8/searide...tos-37469.html

what I don't understand is this:

I'm glad I got into ripping the deck and stringers out, in total, as I would have to come back and do it again later.

The link below is my project website. I've added some recent pictures of the deck project (mostly out), and some example of the rot...

my boat doesn't have stringers, so I don't really get that. If anyone has additional information on what is meant, please share. But I do know now that I can use 13mm plywood as core material as I was suspecting, and then with 5mm bottom and / top glass this will make solid 23mm deck.

Thank you.
