Avon Specs Searider Spec etc 4.7 Anyone go a 4.7 Searider Hull

I am keen to get some info on Searider Hulls, every one seems to say they are the best.

I would like to buy a good used hull or perhaps one for a refurb, but they never seem to be for sale? Anyone got one they would ike to sell?

Do they need a long shaft engine? Does anyone know the deadrise of the hull?

I found some good specs on the web see below:

http://www.mlmarine.com/Products/Boa.../searider.html

Is the deep V really that good? I assume it handles the chop well, and only requires a medium 60 - 70 hp engine.

Anyone got any comments........

Chris

The best person..

Try sending a PM to Rogue Wave he has had a couple of 4.7m and is refitting one at the moment and has loads of knowledge.

All I would say if you could stretch to one get a 5.4m as just that bit more seaworthy. Especially if on the south coast.

60 - 70 on a 4.7m is good, and 70 on a 5.4m is adequate for most things.

Engines are longshaft unless someone has attacked it with saw.. never a good thing!

I own a 4.7 wit a 65 Suzuki. had it since 98... it a great boat. turns really fine.. nice performance.. the deep v-hull is actually a bit too deep for my use. i have to carry a lot of weight (diving) which means my 65HP engine is just on the small side.. actually cosidered to change it to a 90 ;-)....

yes i know.. but the transom on the 5.4 and the 4.7 are the same.. so i guess it should be strong enough - since the 5.4 is ok with 90hp. i think it's just a matter of stability during high speeds.
