Avon SR 4.7 1998 color

hi

I know it has been discussed before but i'm hoping someone know the facts for my question.

What is the code for the Orange color of a Avon SR 4.7 from 1998.

In previous threads RAL 2002, RAL 2004 & BS381c 592 has been mentioned.

I sent a piece of my boat to a TopCoat company in DK. They suggested to use RAL 2002 despite it looks a bit too red. They thought RAL 2004 looked too yellow.

From what i can see (on the computerscreen) RAL 2002 looks quite Red.
RAL 2004 and BS381c 592 looks rather similar and more orange than red........

I'm waiting for an answer from Avon... but who knows if that will come anytime soon.

How about the tube color ?

br
Nikolaj

RIBase
Avon used both ral2002 and ral2004 depending on the year.

From another thread:-

From Avon

Boats built before 1999 were Tangerine Orange, unfortunately
I do not have the colour number for this.

Boats built after 1999 are international Orange, BS 381C, Colour 592.]
But again we have no RAL number for this.
After a quick google search, there's a lot of contradiction between RAL numbers and paint names, but the RAL and BSC codes are shown next to each other here(click). A bit of playing with the 'clone' tool in photoshop should be able to determine the closest match.

Tangerine orange appears to be BS 06E53, which doesn't have a RAL number, but looks close to RAL2004

If you're not planning on painting the whole boat it's unlikely you'll get a good colour match anyway as it will have faded.

Thanks for your replies.

I am going for RAL 2004. If it's way of i just have to go for grey instead.

It seems as AVON is holding the information pretty close. I find it a bit strange why they wont tell. They say they will but never calls back. I can't believe they don't know, they build the thing.

NASA mixed up Miles and Kilometers. Believe that Avon can get a RAL wrong. Anyway, I'm not sure that RAL and BS colours match exactly.

RAL 6005 is my favourite. But not on a RIB, very unlucky at sea

Well 6005 is nice... the world is 18% grey in average according to my photo knowledge... so why not..
