hopefully these new ones will play a different tune tomorrow when I fit them

got some good news of the SS man today, he's up for the challenge of making the A frame, so I can get the hull to him when he's got a spare day

and I've found what sounds like a nice outboard to fit the SR4, just waiting for the nod n some pics, been a good day all round really, shame I had to go to work to pay for it all

Is it expensive getting new tubes made up?

im thinking about buying this, would a 25hp on the back do alright? anyone know if I would be expecting too much thinking i could get 20 knots?

I never change just the bearings..bearing and hub all in one go..purchased all ready to go with bearing in the hub. Wheel off , hub nut off...pull hub off, drop in bin, wipe off old grease, work new grease into new bearings, slide on whole lot, do up hub nut...New split pin, pump full of grease , wheel on.

Sit back with a beer wondering how the grease got all over me!!! :-)

does it need new tubes, if they are holding air ok, then maybe they just need a good clean or a re-furb, mine were just scrap that's why I cut them off and decided to start again. I would say, depending on what you wanted, you would be paying between £2 to 3K for new tubes.

I'm looking at 40 to 50HP, but depending on what you want to do with it, 25hp would be OK I guess

I went for a good hull and deck, I didn't want to be buying someone else scrap trailer, engine etc, I wanted to choose what I wanted to fit!

yes, that thought did cross my mind, not a long journey, but I wanted to make sure the stubs etc were ok before I started spending too much on it, one of the threads is a bit worn, but the nut goes on ok and the split pin is a good fit, so it will do for now, maybe I'll look for a new axle over the winter.

no beer for me tonight, more scans tomorrow but hopefully it'll be good news and I can have my last op sooooooooon

just a couple of pics of the SR4 hull on the trailer, the trailer needs a bit of teewking to get the hull sitting better, but ok for now

the hull has gone to Mike at Osprey Ribs for a new console / jockey seats / fuel tank and anchor locker to be fitted, similar to the link below. I know it'll take up a fair bit of space on the deck, but it'll also give us some space on the console for fitting gauges, vhf, gps etc, see how it goes Mike is a top bloke, very helpful and loads of advice / knowledge about moulds etc, well worth a phone call if you're looking to modify your rib

just a quick update on the SR4.
Mike has fitted the console and jockey seats plus anchor locker, he has also spent a fair bit of time cleaning the hull up for me, I'm not up to it yet, looking great so far, thanks for your efforts Mike
the SR4 is now at Specialised Inflatable Technology to get the tubs made and fitted, many thanks to Chris Chadwick for the photo as I've not been able to get over to see progress so far
