give me a chance Nick, I'm doing me best, honest
I'm ringing tomorrow to see if they can fit me in to do the A frame etc
yes, I've sorted an engine, after a lot of phone calls and a few disappointments I tracked down a Honda 50, which has been a nightmare to sort out but nearly there now

another pic

Looks awesome Chris, great combo the black and orange, really like it. :-)

I would have loved a bow locker but my console is fitted so far forward that it would have been impractical which begs the question of where I'm gonna keep the anchor?

What are you going to with the flooding hull, blank it or leave it?

I've just fitted a system to mine that gives me the option of either blanking it or flooding it dependent on what I'm gonna. Be doing....
Removable Blanking bungs at the pointy end and an unscrewable heavy duty cap at the rear.

That is lovely Chris. What a great job. Reckon Mr Smith will look a little smarter too after an Xmas pampering. Will need to get ready for the flash of boats in April!

Looks fabulous Chris. Can't wait to get back home next week and crack on with mine now.

I'll give you a shout next week and pop over to the Wirral, buy you a beer and collect the hydraulic steering if that suits?

Looking forward to getting on the water with you and Colcreate too...talking of which, what's the collective noun for a group of SR's?

......keep it clean lads

I have serious sr4 envy. These two sr projects are going to make two seriously good fun boats!

Black tubes are the way forward, with a truck, cradle, bow locker, etc etc :-)

hi Simon,
thanks, only saw a photo of it y'day, made up to see it in the flesh today up to now I'm leaving it as a flooding hull, see how it goes, but may change my mind, yours looks like a good compromise

the original plywood off the transom is too far gone to re-use, so what's the best option to go with considering marks on the transom, a new piece of marine ply, a stainless plate, or just bolt the Honda 50 straight onto the transom, looking for ideas?

Hi Chris

I would always prefer stainless to anything else.

There was no issue with my transom but in the pictures I posted the other day showing my drain hole (for lack of a better expression), you can see the 316 4mm thick plate I fitted as a doubler.

I only had some 2mm in stock in the workshop so had to order it in. ironically it came from EBay UK andros me £40 for a 400x400mm sheet.

I then cut it to take the shape of the transom, sikaflexed the back of it and bolted the outboard through it to the transom.

.;-)

Btw Chris, do you have any kind of makers plate on your transom?

I ask as I only have the HID tag on my transom but would prefer a proper makers plate showing Avon as the builder and max transom loading etc...

Can you still get them? has anyone ever had any made-up?

Chris, boat looks really good by the way!

The tubes - Are they a matt finish or a fabric/textured impression?

thanks Simon, I must admit if I could have saved the original marine ply I would have gone that route, if for no other reason than to keep a little bit of the original rib, but as it's beyond saving then stainless is my preferred choice, see what they suggest when I take it in to get the A frame made next week.

yes, I've still got the original makers plate, I can take a couple of pics and post them so you can see what it looks like, can't say I've seen them advertised but I'll have another look for you

thanks Gareth, it looks better than I could have hoped for, the tubes are a matt / textured finish and look really good, made up with the finish so far
