Avon SR4 Project

just bought a Avon SR4 Rib, many thanks Roy (sneland) hull, deck and transom are solid, never had a console fitted, but tubes are scrap, which I knew from Roy's very honest description. I've taken a few photos, got a few ideas of what to do, but no rush, still got the other rib to play with I'll post pics as things progress, slowly....... oh, n thanks to me mate Jeff (Hutcheon) for making the trip up north with me, to collect the rib!!

I have a SR4.7 Console in the garage but it does need some work

tubes need a touch more than gaffer tape n fairy power spray, more patches than tube, but I knew that from Roy old tubes nearly stripped off hull now, only one chamber held any pressure for more than a minute, and that went soft soon after, not a pretty sight

Are you going to fit new tubes or just repair the other ones off the boat?
What engine are you going to fit?

deffo new tubes, old ones well beyond repair, patches on patches etc, not decided what colour yet, but I like the idea of grey tubes with black patches, grab handles etc, no ropes.
not sure on engine yet, I like Honda's but not decided as yet, but open to suggestions.......

I am collecting a SR4 on wednesday or thursday. At the momement it has a 35hp evinrude which is obviously going.

I am not going to unleash the price I am getting it for but lets just say

With a budget of £1500-£2000 on an outboard, what do you think would be suitable?

Very jealous Chris! I'd love an SR4 to tow about.

My 2.5m Avon is great fun at the moment. May upgrade in a few years. Let me know if you sell as I'm sure you'll do a grand job!!
