Avon SR4 - whats it worth?!

Hi anyone interested / with an opinion...!

I considering upgrading my boat to something a little larger and wondering what mine might be worth, espcially in these uncertain times! Boat basically as below:

Avon SR4 / 2001.
White hull / Grey tubes.
Double consul seat and custom double rear seat.
Double stainless steel A frame with nav lights.

Mariner / 40hp / 2 stroke / 2001.
Elect start of course but gas assist tilt, not PTT.
[Instruments - Revs / Log / Battery].

Galvanised road trailer with light board.
PVC cover - bit tired but perfectly servicable.

In my opinion it's a cracking little boat and very fast. The engine runs fantastically, took it out for a shakedown last weekend and ran as well as ever. The custom rear seat is also great - it is a removable GRP box shaped to hull that can be locked with black padded seat to match consul. A frame also a very neat fit. Boat had new steering last summer too.

Will try and add some pics.

Many thanks,

Tom

Antifoul? Is it left on a mooring?
What's the hull like?

Yes, the last owner put that on, no idea why as he didn't keep it on a mooring! And not left on a one by me either - fully washed and engine flushed then tucked up in a garage...only moorings near us are Portland Harbour and they are rather exposed to the weather!

The hull is not absolutely pristine but in very good condition [no cracks or anything like that], I think the blue would come off pretty easily too but not done it as doesn't bother me massively.

That look a very tidy RIB. Bet you've had some fun in it!
The only thing that would put me off buying is the lack of PTT BUT it ticks all the boxes in every other way

I was thinking round GBP 3,750 after looking at some others, inc dodgy conversions from 2/2 back to back seats into jockey seats, etc.

More pics attached...

looks really nice, very up together, as other sr4 members wil say too. can be a wet ride, is they anything at all to cover up the wiring in front of the console, a couple of trips and you'll have another job on your hands - lovely example though

Sorry geezer, but t'aint worth that with that engine on it.You can pick them up for well under £1000. The rest isn't worth £2750.

It's a buyers market at the moment and better SR4s than yours are regularly selling for sub £3k which is a damn shame as yours looks a really good boat.

Nos is dead right. I'd say the boat would be worth around £2300, if it's as clean as it looks in the photos.

It has been known for antifoul to be applied to cover a dodgy hull repair. I hope this isn't the case in your boat.

Ok guys, many thanks for the input...will have a think about what to do with it. I do think 2,300 is pretty low considering this old one on eBay getting up to 2,400 ! :

That boat failed to make reserve, so I tend to wonder who was bidding.

This one may give a better indication of value:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=170317172155

30 bids up to £2150 for a lateish SR4 with a 2006 Twatsoo 50.

That was a great boat for the money.
No offence Tom but I agree with DHD and Nos, very rarely see a SR4 go over £2500.
Put it on ebay though as you never know how things go. Have seen OK 5.4SR go for very little and I've seen tatty things go for stupid money. Worth a shot.

In case anyone is interested for their reference I advertised the boat last week and now sold for GBP 2,500. Good weather for selling!

Thanks to all for their input.

Upgraded to a 5.5 Humber "Destroyer" with a Mercury 100 4/s...awesome boat!
