They do, but unless they happen to have a boat in the area the delivery charge is going to hurt!

Indeed, I think I'll have to either disappoint my guests or risk further damaging my engine. I've been assured on here, and by an outboard mech in Ireland, that the engine won't fall off and that probably the worst we can expect is a bent gear linkage so I'm inclined to go for the latter.
Thanks for the replies tho.

The chap I spoke to today when I chased it up said it was out of the question and that you had to join the club "because of the regulations". The fact that Seawake appear to be running this club format suggests that this might be true.
For what its worth the wording on the marineclub website is a bit misleading too: "Marine Club membership is £500 which then counts as credit towards days out. For example a Ribeye 600 would cost as little as £150 for a half day, you just pay for fuel used"
The chap I spoke to this morning said that actually, out of your initial 500 quid, only £250 of it counts towards days out. I might have been prepared to spend £500 on two days out, specially since the Ribeye 600 is a possible next boat for us, but not £500 for a day.

The web site is v misleading. Try and say you'll hold them to it!
"Give me two days for £500" or I'll take it further....
It's there branding on a uk web site, I'd guess normal commercial rules apply. Tag in a shop says £20, get to the till and they say £40, they're screwed!!

Well firstly membership is almost certainly at their discretion. Secondly you've misunderstood consumer law. I've not read the ts and cs but it's very unlikely that you'd win the argument, and more likely that having paid your money and made a fuss are pointed towards the door.

Life's too short. In any case, starting off a business relationship (two seperate trips remember) like that is unlikely to end well.

Get to the till... If they don't want to sell you it at that price they don't have to. They just have to remove it from sale for 24hrs...

Hmmm, not sure of the exact legals but I've been told it and it's happened twice over the years and it's been honoured.
Either way, shit website that doesn't promote confidence.

Fully agree, I was also honoured the price on the tab the other day, it said £14 for a camera filter on the tab, and mr currys man said 30 at the till,
I ask "why does it say 14 on the stand then, this is nothing other than false advertising, disapoining to the customer," and legally frowned upon.
I must say they kindly honoured the price without hesitation.

Good customer service is not a legal requirement, he can simply refuse to sell if he so wishes. Of course it's often smarter to satisfy the customer then correct the price.

I've had some success with this in the past provided they accept payment initially you've entered into a contract........ Otherwise they can refuse to sell you the item !

My local co-op are useless for leaving expired offer tickets on the shelf normally get the deal there is a term E & O E (which cover their arse) but if they dont rectify the error once informed then are in breach IIRC.
Anyway Rib hire can't really help but loads of marine engineers cant one fix it before you go out?

Fair point Poly, I have consulted with swambo, and she confirms its not a legal requirement, more a courtesy as you suggest.

It's called "misrepresentation" legally .....so shop advertises an item for £10 and you think bargain, go to till and it's £20 .... The store has" induced " you into a purchase contract position with an "offer" of £10 and your "acceptance" (a contract under the sale of goods act). The store has no choice but to honour the price quoted. That's law and you can push it.
Don't walk away when this happens stand your ground they have nowhere to go.
