Barracuda RIB's - Anyone heard of them?

http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F131071/

Contemplating flying out to the Isle of Man to inspect this boat. Has anyone got any experience with this hull? Build design? Sea capabilities?

Fill me with your knowledge!

The hassle of the IOM though

At least with the UK I can fly over and back home in the same day, or if I Was buying I can drive and come back on the same day.

Not many Barracudas were built, and by different builders. You need to know the history of the boat and where it came from.

You might want to have a look at the MAIB site for details of an incident at St Ives http://www.maib.gov.uk/cms_resources/Big_Yellow.pdf

We used a Barracuda 7.4 at our centre in Oban for several years, and it was a great boat -really nice hull (rather narrow, but excellent in the sea).

Get the right one, and the Barracuda is a good boat, but care needed in choosing the right one

If this is the same Baracuda I was looking at some months ago, it's the same hull as the Parker 750 RS, or very similar. I posted some photos on a thread as I was interested in one in Scotland.

thank you for your answers. it seems that the boat that you refer to is not one of the barracudas i know.

for the record mine is a barracuda 700 naval force shown in the pic below..

The BIG YELLOW which is subject of that report is not a BARRACUDA rib and also not a PARKER rib for the record
PARKER RIBS are mentioned in that report but only as an example how that particular rib should have been built

Fair point, Andre - and I'm certainly not knocking Parker RIBs, or even Barracuda (I stand by my comments that we have positive experience of Barracuda) - just making thge point that Big Yellow came from the same mould as the Barracuda 8.6

Not that I'm aware of. It turns out I nearly bought the one Seaskills used to own. I couldn't find anything out about them which was a bit off-putting.
