Beach camping south Cornwall

Do any of you guys familiar with the Cornish south coast know of any good beaches to camp on overnight, ideally somewhere along the Fowey - Falmouth stretch? The girlfriend and I fancy anchoring the RIB and spending the night in a tent (one of those small pop-up things). Well if it ever stops raining, that is! Of course the anchorage for the boat would need to be sheltered and the beach still exposed at high tide!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Depending on the wind direction and HW times, you could try Pentewan. (The tent would be easier to deal with than the boat, otherwise there are lots of options - including some beaches you can only reach by sea)

Great, can't get the link to work now,

Matt I have stayed at Penmarlem a couple of times. Love the place! I was down there for a couple of days last week, getting very wet Hope the weather picks up for you Nos.

It's nice 'campable' beaches, rather than a campsite, that I'm interested in though so thanks for the tips Kernow & Mollers. I know Lantic Bay but not Turnaware Bar ...Might give it a try next time.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks all.

the very top of whitsand bay on the west side of rame head near plymouth is probably about the most sheltered spot you will find and a nice beach camp . Its all sand below the low water mark although the top end of that beach does look rocky . Good anchorage if you have the right anchor for sand
