Beer
Ok I've mentioned it a few times, better try to arrange something.
basic idea is to get a few of us local to Portsmouth together for a beer.
How does this Monday Night sound?
As for the venue, lets get some reactions.
The Royal Oak Langstone - My favorite but a bit small.
The churchillian portsdown Hill - Not my favorite pub but has plenty of space and is central for those on and off the Island.
The Red lion, Charlton - Fantastic pub but not handy, except for me and the guys in Horndean and Petersfield (you know who you are)
The Harbour Lights Cosham - same comments as the Churchillian.
Any others to be suggested.
Don't mind organising it, and will give out my mobile number to anyone who wants it by private message. Can pick others up on the way so beer can be drunk, maybe someone else can do the same next time.
Oh, I do refuse to wear any flowers in buttonhole for identification.
Nasher.

Nasher,
A man after my own heart. Can't possibly make it on a Monday evening 'cos I have to earn my crust up in the smoke but what about doing it sensibly and carefully (no more than 3 pints in any one hostelry) at a weekend.
Wouldn't it make it easier if all the pubs were in the immediate vicinity of harbour walls or pontoons.
OK, now we're back to the usual suspects, The Rising Sun at Warsash, The Kings Head at Yarmouth, The Anchor at Cowes etc. etc.
Which weekend did you have in mind Nasher ?
ATB

Sound good as long as it's noit the jolly sailor in Ashlett Creek. Also Nasher/guys girls don't forget the DW Poker run on July the 10th. Excellent fun and a very social event.

Hi all
Whiteshoes, I wasn't thinking of a boat evening, just a get together without putting the boats in the water to talk RIBS. and wasn't thinking of any weekend.
Main idea was a quick drink and chat after work one evening, I work within the M25 too but manage to be home early enough to meet up at around 8pm.
Petes suggestion of the Churchillian is the only one so far.
When the match is over tomorrow and I've got the kids in bed I'll see if there are any more takers and suggest a time and place.
Otherwise it looks like just you and me Pete!

I can do beer. Mondays can be negotiated with SWMBO.
My Landrover club uses the Hogs Lodge (off A3, Butser Hill), Churchillian is not a problem, (mind you, I have not been there since going to Southdows College last time the moon was blue)
Ship at Langstone is good on a fine evening, loads of room outside.
The Castle at Rowlands Castle usually has some space.
Count me in anywhere.

OK everyone, looks like the churchillian, I should get there between 8 and 8.30pm.
I'm sure those who get there before me will find each other but if anybody is stuck give me a ring on 07767 705589 and watch who's phone rings.
See you all there, unless work pack me off on a plane somewhere which can happen at a couple of hours notice.
Nasher.

Well I’ve got to work and haven’t got to go anywhere, so I’ll see you all there.
Does anybody want a lift? I’ll be travelling down from Clanfield to Portsdown hill and don’t mind picking up a few along the way.
Phone me on my mobile 07767 705589 to arrange.

Well, more than I expected turned up, and I think all enjoyed swapping stories etc.
Thanks to those that came it was good to put some faces to the 'Handles' that regularly post on these forums.
Last night was the 2nd Monday of the month, so why don't we try to do it on the 2nd Monday of each month, 12th July would be the next one. Everybody welcome.

Well done Nasher
Good to meet a few of you face to face. Now if only I could remember your names.
When is the next one?

Oops, here is me suggesting a pub and then not being able to make it. Mind you from the top of Portsdown hill you could probably have seen me struggling to diagnose a fault on an alternator, just as well you couldn't hear the vocabulary. Anyway the expert view is its "fecked".
Hope to make it on the 12th,
Pete
