Belgian Offshore 2006

Hi Guys,

Last weekend the Belgian Offshore took place under a nice sky and a good looking sea. This year there were 4 English teams competing; 3 of them in amazing Scorpion ribs.

Sometimes it was close racing and the suspense was 100% ... as was the fair play. All competitors had the feeling the won and in a way they did.

Aphro was also there and took part in the race.

Check the pictures on fotobank.navis.be.

Team XS

Hightower,

It is an Offshore Passion http://www.offshorepassion.com/ . I had the chance of taking it out for a 'spin'. 0 to 55 knots is just a few seconds (so it felt).

Pilot is Sven Aartsen; co-pilot is Nicolas Walaert. Both have been racing for some time now.

This boat is fabulous but has some trouble with rough seas. Nevertheless it's like a bullet from a gun.

Top Speed with the Mercury 250XS is 73 kn. That boat is the winner of the Championnat de France. According to offshorepassion topspeed with the 300xs should be between 80-85 kn.

Excellent photos on your site Karel

Any idea what power that grey Buzzi(?) boat has? How did she compare to Scorpion Hot Lemon for speed?

I'm sure I recognise the guy in the portrait photo no 13 (Brugge Marine), I think I met him at Ribex this year. Pretty sure he was with the Osprey in photo 32.

Regards

Ian

Ian,

The Biretta has 2 x 440 hp and a two speed gear box.

Photo 13 is indeed Kris Deraedt from Brugge Marine Center. He was at Ribex with that yellow and red ViperMax 6.5.
