This is how i considered solving it but couldnt find a reason to throw the seat away and just use the hinges however it is poss the cheapest option

If I repair the existing, this is what I will do too. The rivets were a pain to get out!

Find a good steel fabrication shop and have them made in stainless steel. Nobody thinks about making stuff these days.

The replacement seat I ordered arrived this morning
I did go to the fabricators nearby, but they are busy for weeks
|

Glad your sorted. Do you do RYA Powerboat level 2 ?
I emailed a chap I was talking to at the boatlife show a couple of weeks back..but as yet no reply.

Yes i am pleased with them however you can see my over cuts as i said earlier this was a pain as i used 316 3mm thick angle (which had a serious webb in the angle of the steel),and friends in the know rightly said i would have done better getting someone to fold a bit of 2mm polished sheet as the webb was a pain as was the polishing from scratch ,just my learnings should you wish to have a go
