I'm having trouble with getting the rope sliding and also man handling the tube itself.
Is it best to do it with the tubes warm from sunlight? Or cold and rigid?
Also what's the best lube to use to ease the ropes in the guides?

Any soapy water solution works fine. It is easier if you clean the fiberglass first to reduce the friction. The tube needs to be completely deflated, and when you grab the tubeset to pull, you need to grab the material very close to the bolt rope.
I recommend having the trailer attached to a truck or something, so when you yank, all of the energy transfers in to moving the tubeset rather than rocking the trailer back and forth.
It can sometimes take 2-3 people with larger tubesets.
