Bilge Pump not working

The bilge pump on my rib has stopped working completely. It neither turns on from the sensor nor the switch.

The scuppers on the boat haven't been doing their job and the pump has been on a fair bit bailing out water. It was on a mooring the other night and when I got on the boat the next morning there was about 8 inches of water in it, the bilge pump was submerged at this stage, since it had stopped working.

Can they be brought back to life and where do I start?

It's a Seaflow 06 series and only about 6 months old

I'd check

Is there some detrius around the impeller?
Has the fuse gone?
Is there current to the unit?
Is there a reset button to try?

If nothing obvious fromt he the above and only 6 months old I'd contact the retailer for advice / repair replacement.

I had the same pump and it lasted about the same length of time before it died. Thought I would go for a more expensive Rule pump next and the auto function died after 6 months. At this point I treat bilge pumps as an almost disposable item! Frustrating.

RIBase
I have 2 Attwood Sahara's - had to replace both. I opened up the failed units and it looked like water ingress from where the cables entered the housing caused the failure. With the new units I filled up the cable entry point with silicone adhesive to try and prevent water ingress - they've lasted 3 years so far.

Not sure I'd recommend the Sahara's - I've had to replace the mounting baskets at least twice, because they easily break when I remove the pump for cleaning. In fact, the last time I cracked the basket I repaired it with melted lego bricks because I couldn't source a replacement (looks like Attwood have released V2 of the Sahara).

That's a very good idea, thanks for the tip!

I have just ordered a Seaflo so I'm a bit concerned about the OP's experience, I was leaning towards a SPXFLOW by Johnsons but at 4 times the price it seemed madness.

Pays your money and takes your chances I guess.

My SPXFLOW Ultima failed after exactly 3 years. As you say - pays your money etc.
