was going to say hopefully its broke free from its moorings, but all in all sounds serious.

"Solent Coastguard watch manager told BBC News: "All indications were that there had been someone in the boat. This is very, very urgent."

He said a helicopter could not be sent to search until it was certain someone had gone missing. "

If they believe someone was aboard then why aint the chopper scrambled at the earliest opportunity after tht was established, I know the cost involved but you would think they would at least have a quick scan in a certain perimeter

I was worried it might be Howard (Zippy) but phoned the Coast Guard that told me it is totally Orange in colour (Hull and Tubes). They still have no information about it.

BMW sub -aqua? Do you think its more likly to be BWM sub aqua?

I hope they find its owners, and I hope it has broken off its moorings.

Surely the coast guard would know if there was someone on board or not. The key would still be in the ingition. I automaticly put the key in as soon as I get aboard (for safe keeping).

It was a BWM as it has just turned up in our business park on the back of a recovery truck. Looks like the owner was with them and it was with Viking. Cowling was off the engine. I assume that everyone is ok if they are driving it around?

Yes, I suppose it does if the Coasties/Coppers were desperately trying to locate a dive club from BMW to see if they had members out in a club boat and they were wasting valuable time down a blind alley..... Why the attitude? It looked like a perfectly reasonable comment to make.

I am sure when the RIB was spotted on the shore they coasties would have had there own details of the RIB which I am sure would have been a 'BWM'
and when the nob jockey at the BBC got a hold of the info they would have had a typo error

Dont think Andy was expressing attitude just a common rectificaion of a know it all post

Yes, I'm positive that the Coasties got it right and it was transposed by our Nation's finest journalists....but the point was still a reasonable one to make, in light of the fact that it was in a press release asking the public for help to identify the boat. Why do you call it a "know it all" post?

Jono

just seems some folks like to have posts on the forum that must be squeeky clean tip top spot on , no offence meant on my part

can't speak for Andys take on it but that was mine.

Anyways as long as the Rib crew are safe and well, the boat is repairable and if it was stolen the thiefs are hopefully going to be found washed up on the shore

Sorry, I didn't mean to cause any offence at the time I posted the comment there were no pictures and I was trying to help clarify details of the boat. It is clearly a bbc type error, but I believe assertaining the manufacturer of the boat was paramount to finding the owners.

regards

Alex
