Boat Afloat

What is a man to do

I have spent all morning trying to find somehwere in Falmouth to keep the rib afloat. All three marinas have waiting lists, 2 were willing to add me to it, 1 just said it was too long sorry goodbye.

Where do all these yachties keep their boats while waiting for a spot?

Tell me about it. The waiting list for Yarmouth on the IOW is 6 years or something and you have to pay an annual fee to be on the list!

I guess I'm lucky that I only live a mile from the slipway

Tim you think that's bad, I waited over 20 years for my mooring in Lymington and them it was so far down the river it was virtually in Yarmouth.

Only all morning? Doesn't sound like you've suffered enough yet!

P'raps you need to go on the black market... aren't there all sorts of "exchange schemes" for people between boats who don't want to lose their berth/mooring who would like to find people lke you who are waiting?

Alternatively a bit of local knowledge - surely the natives need to keep well in with the local coastie?

Does it need to be a marina or could you make do with a mooring ?

If you contact the Harbour Master he may know of some providers of non-council moorings.

I know there were some available on the Yealm and I think the Tamar when we lived down in Devon.

Just a thought

The Yealm and tamar are a bit far away.

But I will consider a mooring but that would require a SIB to get me out there in th first place.

Sorry Coastie not being too specific - Yealm and Tamar were a "for instance". In fact wouldn't you need your passport up to date to get to the Yealm

Cheers

Hi Ginger
I know what you are up against, i went to MDL Brixham and asked for a bearth, at the moment there is a two year waiting list, Bo****ks,
launch and recover a Pacific, don't think so.

Please, please, please, i dont mind being moved around the marina,
Ahh well thats fine.

Just use your charm, shouldn't be that hard for a coastie, be paintent and persistant.

There are lots of boats comming out of the water now so there are spaces in a lot of marina's, know what i mean.
