Nah, details don't match. That one on the road has a sterndrive. He was advertising one that had been converted to outboard.

Me too - but fortunately it was a small unbraked trailer and I was going slow; a Pac22 at speed would probably have been carnage.

Yep glad no one was hurt but that was probably luck, I agree many people have crap trailers and dont know how or dont care about securing boats on properly. Have seen many trailers with boats with the wrong number plates, lights not working and not strapped down go past cop cars and they have been ignored. Its just the way of the world.

It was "that road". However it is hilly and very undulated at points with poor road surface. I strongly suspect it bounced off. I've seen a mirror dinghy come off there and pass the car in front if me that was towing it.

I agree boris, but as for lights not working thats down to the crap trailer boards that they sell that have the ce markings but are not fit for purpose as far as I am concerned.
The bulb fitments are pathetic and I'm forever having to check mine as every time I go over a small bump the bulbs come out of the bayonet fitting I think that maybe screw in bulbs would be a better idea.
There was a thread on this some time ago.

I presume you meant that the "tail wagging the dog" was snaking which is different. Plus I know enough not to tow a trailer with the hitch to high and the rear end to close to the floor + make sure that my tyres are in good condition so they don't blow out

I'm with Biffer on the chaining the trailer to the car. I'd far rather the thing used the back of mine to stop rather than anybody else !
If you have the load nose heavy as it's supposed to be it'll drag along the road & HOPEFULLY wedge itself under the rear without too much damage.

It makes sense to me as well, if you are behind a boat or caravan which becomes uncoupled the safety chain snaps and pulls the handbrake on stopping it dead only for the car behind to run right up its a*se due to no brake lights.
Funny enough you have to use a chain on unbraked trailers, so why not braked.

When I bought my rib last year the previous owner was completely baffled when I looped a ratchet strap around the eyes on the transom. According to him he towed it from Manchester to the Rhine with only the painter wrapped around the front of the trailer!
