Boat Jumble this Sunday

Anyone off to the boat Jumble at Calshot this Sunday.

Details are about half way down this link.

http://www.boatjumbleassociation.co.uk/

Not a bad sized boat jumble and I think the Calshot Adventure centre even takes the chance to flog off a few windsurfing boards and such like as well.

Nick

We are planning to go at the moment, although a couple of other things going with the kids on may stop us.

We went last year and enjoyed it. Its a good venue with plenty of other stuff going on around it to make it worth the trip.
If nothing else its a good place for a bracing walk along the beach in the breeze.

Nasher.

I'm thinking of a trip over there too, nothing specific in mind but I'll keep an eye out.

I think I've got my fill of bargains for the day. £30 for a Seagull and £70 for a stainless prop off ebay

Not as good as last year. But boating commitments had kept me away from any Boat Jumbles this year so this was a nice change. Bagged a couple of bargains to make the trip worthwhile and now got the start of a a winter project.

Met up with Neil harvey who I hadn't spoken to for a while.

Even saw a sailable canoe for a fiver. Although it did have a 1977 sticker on it !

Couple of other canoes I want to follow up as well.

Well its just a little start.

After scrabbling through a few boxes I managed to get a couple of Carling Marine Switches for 50p each. Its the start of a little electrical project. Either deck lighting or a warning horn.

I met up with Neil too, sorry I missed you Nick.

Was pretty much a wash out as far as I was concerned, did purchase some stainless screws and nylocs. Saw someone selling fibre glass supplies and was amazed he was selling MEK as a solvent (though that had been made illegal to sell and use). Not much else of interest for me, the heavens opened up and wind blew up into a squall, was funny as hell watching all the stall holders dashing from pillar to post packing all their stuff up

Had a walk back to the car along the creek and spoke to a few fishermen/ladies along the beach, all had nice looking Flounders in their buckets and I was amazed that you need to belong to a club and hold a licence to fish on Calshot spit, this costs £45/year I was told .

Andy,

Must have just missed you. Whilst it was rainig I went for a wander inside the main hanger. Had a look at the rock climbing bit and the dry ski slope.
Nice looking cafe inside as well with a lovely view over the Solent to Cowes. Shame you can't moor the boats there.
Apparently the sea is rising .5 mm each year at the spit. Wonder how long it will take to sink.
