.Aquaholic
.Nauti-Buoy

Send a message via Skype™ to Festinghouse
boat near us is called 'ringpiece'!
heard one called 'wet dream' do a radio check - the female coastguard was very proffessional with her response

Seen some great names in Cowes: Ferroconcrete boat called "Maid of Portland" and one with a boozy lot on board called "Searosis of the River"

Good point, you need to have something that works on the radio, so 'sync n rib' is out of the question

I saw a suggestion on here to put place names into anagram generators. I quite liked that — having somewhere that means something to you encoded in the boat's name.

I've never managed to make anything suitable that way, but it's fun trying.

And finally: saw a lovely yellow boat in Poole called "Jonathan Livingstone Seagull". Unbelievably next to it was a boat called "Shy Talk".

Im in the same dilemma, my rib was never named so ive been thinking long and hard. I like a bit of humour in a boat name so here's a few i've thought off

1. SALTED N CHILLI (bit of a double meaning with it been used in salt water and f**ckin freezing in the winter) also salted chilli RIBs are a fav of mine from the chinese lol
2. Cabin fever
3. Daylight rubbery
4. Falcon L (say it quickly 3 times)

Also seen loads online but id like it to be related to the fact its a rib

Before I bought rib I owned a dory which I used for fishing in harbour and due to moving out the local village the jokes that flew about on where I moved too I named the boat "OUTCAST"
After selling it and catching the bug for ribs I purchased my 1st rib and living in the northeast northumberland I named it "Northern Storm"

It's very difficult to name a boat - took us nearly as longs as it did agreeing the specification!
There several name threads on here which may steer you towards or away from certain things. There are also some websites with lists of registered boat names
There's also a balance between witty & humorous, and naff and offensive - but that line's different for individuals.
At the end of the day it's about you and your connection with the boat - not easy.
Just don't pick something that you'd be embarrassed to hear as a radio call sign
Good luck - let us know what you finally decide
