Tried to book the rib for a scrub but have been told due to technical problems it will be months before running again. Cancelled subscription today any one else signed up on the Island to be aware.

I heard the Port Solent one was being removed, and then put back.. It seems the inventor tinkered one time too many, and made the thing inoperable.. The Haslar one is still there, with a rumour its being moved to the outside of the hammerhead so it can accomodate longer vessels..

Up Date on East Cowes Boat Srubber

I may be taking over the running of the boat scrubber have a meeting next week will let you know what happens . I still like the idea of it and it does make a difference just need to work out some terms and conditions and it should be up and running again.

Tim
Sorry to show my complete ignorance of the "scrubber" but does it clean a non antifouled hull? How often should you have it done? How much does it cost?
You can tell i really don't want to paint my bottom

Hi Dino

cost is £27 per month for unlimited scrubs . The boat is tied alongside a moving pontoon. The brushes are then raised and the boat passes over them takes around 20 mins for a rib. It does make a difference on fuel consumption with a nice clean bottom. It is not so great on removing heavy fouling but if you start clean and maintain it that way then not a problem. It does clean around the transom very well but a long brush on mine does the job fine. If you keep it in the water and don't want to antifoul then a couple times a month should be ok.

Hi Tim
Sounds good,I'm going to keep her on a drying mooring so she shouldn't foul, just get mud stains. Are you going to take it over then?Is there a time limit on the £27 a month?i.e.can you subscribe for 4 months at a time?
