Boat show ?
I know I (and quite a few others) moaned about last years boat show in London - saying it was pants and not worth the trip....................
Well, now its on again and I'm missing my boat and boating things, would I be wasting my time going again ? Not to mention being a twit / hypocrite.
Anyone else feeling the same ?

As we are relatively close we went on Saturday.....
It'll be the last one I go to!
Nothing made me say "oh I want that one", all in all very disappointing.
We could have walked round in less than an hour.
If you are coming to London just for show I don't think it's worth the trip. Wait till the Southampton show in September!
If you are driving, it's also a £15 flat rate to park. We sold the parking ticket to another car as we we leaving to make it slightly more acceptable.

I went yesterday and thought that there were more ribs sportboats and outboard engines on show than last year, which was good. Unfortunately there were less chandlers/clothing sellers so I was disappointed, especially as I was looking to get a deal on the Musto MPX jackets. (Saw one for sale at the same price to the most expensive online, but you can get them cheaper online so I didn't bother).
The pool was a lot smaller than last year and tucked into a corner, but this didn't really worry me too much.
I'd say it was worth it if you're looking at boats or outboards, but most of the other stuff is more readily available online now.

Well on my way home not over impressed really. Walked round in about an hour and a half that was the whole show. Looking for electronics not to much there for a deal just a couple of chandlers and cactus marine. Main manufacturers just there displaying not selling. Did see the new Evinrude G2 though now that is a pretty sight ( I want one ) looks awesome got to be the best looking outboard on the market in my opinion .All in all would I travel 4 hours total to go next year ? probably not. But each to there own .

I am accompanying Brian and another IOM Ribber to the Duseldorf Boat Show next week and will report back.
I am now of the opinion that it's either Southampton or Dusseldorf if you want to see a full range of boats and allied products.

I'm visiting some friends tomorrow evening who attended the show on Saturday so I'll get a detailed report then BUT I specifically asked them while they were at the show to see what price(s) the traders were selling the new ICOM GPS radio for?
They told me they visited the ICOM stand, viewed the radio, spoke with the sales guys and were then told that it won't be on sale until April!
Garmin were in attendance but not Simrad.
They were hoping to decide which sticks and string vessel to buy but ended up just buying a pair of sunglasses!

Now this a boat show!!! Went a couple of years ago and loved every minute.
Just the "diving" section is bigger than the London boat show. Took us 1 1/2 days to see the whole thing properly.

IMO boat shows (or any other show for that matter) ain't for buying, they're for looking; unless there's an absolute bargain to be had, which is rare these days. Go, look, touch, play, talk- come home & buy online or from your favourite local retailer.
