Bombard Aerotech 380 to buy or not to buy?

Evening folks,

There's a 2002 Bombard Aerotech 380 which has come up for sale which im tempted to have a look at. The boats complete with wheels etc but I'm a little unsure how well built these boats are?

I can't get away from thinking the sib is nearly 20 years old and so is the resin holding it together.

I've also read previous posts regarding the transom falling off which is also little worrying.

Just interested to hear people's thoughts in relation to making a sensible purchase or to give this one a miss and wait for a later boat to come along?

Forgot to mention, it's up for £875.

Kind regards,

James14

I wouldn’t pay £875 for a 16 year old Aerotec, £375 maybe

69CMW is always harsh on Aerotec values but his point re age is valid. A Zodiac dealer told me they reckoned the life was about 18yrs... so at 16 it’s in that ball park.

Only buy at a price where you would be happy to pay for a transom and floor glue sooner rather than later.

Thanks both for your reply, appreciated. I think I'll hold out for a newer boat. Hopefully there will be a few Aerotech's around seeing summers just round the corner.

Wise - that's too much money for one that old.

Looks nothing like an aerotec to my untrained sib eye. A honwave with tubes too long I'll grant you.

I've done a lot of research and it's either a Bombard Aerotech 380 or a FRIB 360 for me. They're the biggest I can manage by myself. I found the Honwave T38 with 20hp etc a bit much due to the launching wheels flexing when launching/recovering.

Hi Boatworld. You're welcome to join in the general discussion, but if you intend to promote your own products then please have a look here first: http://www.rib.net/forum/f31/ribnet-...ers-18835.html

Thats great Jeff but I have a new 20hp Tohatsu engine which I haven't used yet. Lighter than the 20hp Suzuki but admit it's still a handful.
