I reckon with ferries/tolls/vignettes/diesel/petrol I'm around the £1200 mark & counting. Currently in Venice so it ain't going to get any cheaper [emoji849] campsites are around the £40/night mark. Just been down to the Cavallino marina to suss out launching the boat, they want €80 just to use the slip....Ow MUCH????

Friend was in Venice with small motorboat 5,m 100 HP
There is big problem with mooring in Venice - he couldn't find free place

Even far outside Venice slip was expensive. They have higher taxes for mooring (since few y) so many people keep boats on trailers now and slip each time - so prices for slip went up. Maybe it is the reason why so many people from Italy go with boats to Greece or Croatia.

BP is currently tied up in Certosa Marina, €15 for the day. We used the old town slip in Cavallino to launch this morning, free, my kind of price. Decent if narrow & you need to be handy reversing the trailer. Just about to jump on a water bus to St Marks square.

I expect to see BP and B on "Grande Canalle"
You don't have to sing "serenades" but any boat can drive Venice channels without permission. Looking at Venice from Sea side is much better comfortable than walking wit crowd - in my opinion. You only have to follow speed restrictions. I saw personally Police on boat with radar in Venice. We rented boat taxi and it was similar cost to 5 people x tickets for boat-train.

What a cool trip and how cool are those U boat docks! Living as I do most of the year in Kazakhstan, I encounter many relics of the Cold War and CCCP days (although none of a nautical nature in landlocked KZ).... they really were (and still are) amazing engineers, crazy bastards too, but very clever and ultra efficient when they wanted to be. [emoji1417]

Enjoy and keep the updates coming!

Hi Maciej, we didn't take BP Into Venice, I was under the impression that it wasn't allowed, so we took the easy option. I've paid enough in fines so far this holiday, but that's another story[emoji849]

The submarine pens were something & one of the highlights so far from a boaty point of view. There's still some debate about their origins which warrant further research. Are they, German WWII, post WWII Yugoslavian or Cold War soviet era. They don't look or feel German to me, the construction is very different to the Atlantic wall fortifications in Normandy. I'll look into it when I get home.

This is the marina that we used in Venice, highly recommended, €15 for the day, very friendly and helpful. The waterbus runs from the marina to St Marks square, right by the Doges Palace. It's €15 for a return ticket.

Let me know if you can open this PDF having rules for Venice
Boat taxi was 80 EUR per hr and it was 1 hr trip along S.Mark and some channels. Motorboats owners warn others when Police stays with speedmeter.

And his pictures (friend of mine who used his boat in Venice):
