Truly shocking. Without doubt they are the highlight of the display, and they fly with such precision that an accident like this seems unthinkable. I hope that the pilot has survived.

Best red arrows display I've seen for ages!
Really hope the pilot is ok. We were wondering what the delay was when we got a phone call from a friend telling us the news.

Very shocking indeed, just heard the news on arriving back in Alderney.
They did put on a good show yesterday and a pleasure to meet you Ian.
Even though we were only in the area 24 hours we were lucky to see one of the dolphins near Swanage as well, very playful it was too.

Red Arrow Pilot
Just heard from a reputable source that the pilot ejected, but no info on his condition.

We saw a lot of planes over The Wight today so I guess some were holding off after the crash, even a Lancaster was flying very down The Solent , wonderful sight but missed it on camera.
Only got these four

Hi BBC red button are saying he is seriously injured. Confusing info it seems.
Hope he is ok.
If the show is on tomorrow we will be down, launching from Baiter all being well.
is anyone else going out tomorrow from there? or close to as had a engine issues today.

Terrible news. We watched the display from the Rib out on the water, and it was as brilliant as ever with no signs that anything was amiss.
They even brought the sun with them after the heavy clouds and rain in the morning.

Quote from Bournemouth Council and Air Show as follows
Mark Smith, Head of Bournemouth Tourism, said, “I want to say what a tragic event this is, and our thoughts go to his family at this awful time. The Red Arrows had performed at the Bournemouth Air Festival earlier in the day and had entertained the crowds with a truly magnificent and magical display. It is the wishes of the RAF to continue with their other flying displays at the Air Festival tomorrow, and the pilots have expressed their wishes to continue. The Red Arrows will not be performing.”
Looks like the show will continue but without the Reds
A truly sad day.
