Bournemouth Airshow
The local council is putting on a proper Air Show for the "summer" over three days, Friday 29th, 30th & 31st.
The main display line will be between the piers, however there will be an exclusion zone for boats, which is being policed by the local Marines in their Ribs and hardboats!
If the weather is reasonable it should be a great day out.
I have the display programmes in the form of a Word Doc. PM me if you would like a copy for those that are interested, subject to changes as the aircraft are being shared with Shoreham as well.
Red Arrows Friday 1500, Saturday 1200, Sunday 1452 and the Vulcan Bomber on the Saturady at 1518, which will be loud enough to shake most Ribs from the water. You have been warned

Definately going along Sat & Sun . PM sent as I cant find the programme anywhereonline ! Always a good turn out even in 'iffy ' weather . Very gald to see a bigger display . Red arrows are awsome ( the wife has ducked for the last few years as she thinks they are going to hit us - all 6ft of A frame ! They are low , but not that low - not for the last few years anyway. I Think they hit a mast at Shoreham in the 80's)

Where is the best place to launch at Bournemouth, if the weather is nice I would love to bring my son down to see the red arrows on Saturday.

Thanks to 250 for the flying schedule - All the website are showing this as a 4 day event starting today , but does that mean 3 days of flying ( Fri/ Sat/ Sun) ? with today as a land based day?
I think its going tobe very busy out there off the piers ! Good luck to anyone trying tocontrol it . I recall last year one of the marshall boats picking up a line round the prop in the middle of the no go area 2 mins before the red arrows arrival !

No it is a 4 day show, but when I finished work last week, the guys doing the orgaisation had only gone firm on the 3 days that I sent you (Fri-Sun).
The display box is very well marshalled by both Coast Guard and the RM's, so no probs there.
Weather looking very good for the Saturday
Re Launching, Baiter Park and Christchurch likely to be very busy, so you might want to consider somewhere like Lymington or the Solent to launch and enjoy the drive round

I'm heading out of Christchurch with both my boats - me in one & mate in other - one kept on a mooring & one needing launching . My only concern & advice if you launch in Christchurch is be aware of the low water level on the way back in at Mudeford later in the day - low water around 4.30 ish I think. Low really is low . There usually is a string of boats in & out on a good day that must add 50cm to the depth of the chanel by the end of the day !

How Long?
How long will it take me to get there by sea from the Solent end of Southampton Water, at say a steady 20 knots?

Maha
Cant remember the exact distance from Southampton to the piers, but I dont think it would be too far out if I said about 22 miles +/-. Therefore around about an hour should do you at that speed, but with the forcast light winds and good(?) weather, you will be tempted to use the WOT at times .....

So who will be out on the water?
I will be out from 11-00 until about 2-00 from the Wick Road Slip next to Ashby Powerboat school.
I noticed from the website that there are going to be demos at sea, is there going to be a cordoned off area?

Chris
I'll be out from Xchurch Quay at about 1100ish.
From the PM's I have had, I would think at least 6-10 Ribs from here out over the weekend.
Yes there is a restricted area, well patrolled and the reports I have had back form those I know, say its a cracking show, both in the air and on the water. The large RM support vessel is also open to the public, but only via their own boats from the beach.
The girls love all the men in uniforms showing them round .....

We were on the beach today - but on the water tomoz - took loads of fots today but the Falcon on short finals to the Sigma yacht was quite good and my little Suzy waving to the Lancaster was quite simple yet emotional in a funny kind of way - she never waves to Cessnas and always covers her ears if any jet other than the Reds comes anywhere near us....

Went down to Bournemouth Pier on Friday just as the Red Arrows were doing their thing, which having seen it a million times and find boring, but was blown away by the Euro Fighter, man that is one impressive plane.
Loads of things to do down on the beach. Well done to the organisers for putting on a great show.

Anyone going from Southampton on Sunday?
Is anyone thinking of going to Bournmouth from Southampton area on Sunday?
I'm intending to launch at either the Swanwick or Crosshard slips mid morning (about 10.30 - 11.00) and going across to Bournmouth and would be glad of Rib company.
