Breakdown cover
This rears it’s head every now & then, policies seem to change on the whim of the agency. I’ve just taken out the following cover with Green Flag:-
European cover for the camper & trailer, full roadside, recovery, onward travel..yada yada.
Personal cover in the uk for me & the missus in any vehicle under 16yrs old.
Trailer covered for breakdown, uk & Europe, as long as it’s under 7m long not including draw bar, under 3m high & under 3500kg.
£100.80 all in.
The RAC wanted £230+ for similar.

Thanks Dave ,,, i have held ADAC cover for a number of years as it covers Europe & recovery even if it is the trailer that breaks down ,,, & gives 20% discount on greek /Italian ferries [emoji6] , ,,, (& all for €84) but ,,, the German b's have decided that this full cover fir all Europe will only be available for German residents from next year. So will be in the market then. Does Green flag cover breakdown of the trailer or only if it is the towing vehicle as most other UK ones did when I last tried. ,,,

The Camping & Caravan club scheme is “Arrival” it’s provided by The RAC, they wanted £230 including Euro cover & second car.
Re.trailers. Read the small print carefully. Most schemes will recover a trailer, but only if the towing vehicle breaks down. Many don’t actually cover you if it’s the trailer that breaks down.
Caveat Emptor.

That's a good price . Costs me double that with the AA . Been recovered twice by them. Once on the way back from Liverpool when the boat trailer shed a wheel due to the vendor not checking the wheel nuts . Trailer brought home on a flatbed , I drove home. Second time on the way home from holiday and the Merc ML blew a gearbox on the M6 . Limped to services and the AA took 4 hours to recover us which meant a years free membership and a bunch of flowers . Merc on flatbed & boat towed behind.

Not with RAC. But Re. NFU, my mate has a D3 & has been paying £500+ for car insurance. I’ve been on at him for years saying that they are fleecing him[emoji6]. He’s just changed insurers & is now paying half the price NFU wanted.

Been with green flag for this reason for a number of years.
Next year however I need to move as they won't cover older vehicles and my tow toy hits 16 years old

yes i suspect i could be close to that bracket (£440 last year 2015 disco) but there are a few positives
when your under two years old n/a to me know its a new car so no shortfall
£50 only excess
no charges for change but of vehicle or address/circumstances
free basic rac cover or +£40 for top cover (not sure re boat rtailers but will check
lowest excess replacement windscreens
Uk local offices ,and includes legal cover
so not saying its way to go by any stretch ,but works for me as i tend to get too wound up when i realise i have to pay for trivia ,too old now for a load of hassle about a truck

My motorhome is 2001 and is covers through mayday and so green flag. If you can’t go direct it might be with taking out membership. Personal cover any size trailer etc is well worth the price imho at circa £120
