British beaches failing water tests

At first glance it seems our beaches are way below EU standards - then I heard a spokesman from "Marine Conservation Society" admit that they judge to a "guideline" standard that is actually 20 times higher than anyone else uses!!!

So many people in the Uk think our waters are dirty becuase they can't see the bottom - they don't realise that just because the med has nice clear waters doesn't mean a thing - in fact the med is nothing but an open sewer in places!!!

I think our beaches are probably cleaner now than at any time since the industrial revolution started.
