Brixham-Lyme Regis Sat 1 July

Had a fabulous run from Brixham to Lyme Regis and back yesterday with MHB100 co-helming - furtherest I've ventured East.

Departed Brixham 1130, arr Lyme 1315, departed 1415 recovered Brixham
1600. 32NM each way, 49l of fuel used cruising @ c.22kts.

Sunny, slight sea, blowing 3-4 NNW.

Strangely given the glorious weather, there were hardly any other boats out on Lyme Bay - apart from acouple of fishing boats only 1 yacht between Hopes Nose & Lyme Regis on the way out, and the same on the way back - until Teignmouth where it got abit more populated.

The coastline between Exmouth and Lyme Regis was fantastie- and from LR a clear view to Portland.....it was tempting

There were fourteen dinghies and three RIBs on the water at Sidmouth about the time you were returning .

We you in close enough for us to spot? I've noticed quite a few RIBs going past these last few weeks.

Hi James,

We saw some sails close in on the way back - we were c. 1.5 miles out.

At Lyme Regis there was local dinghy sailing and water ski racing going on on -of the latter I though the concept rather extreme

I was just surprised how little traffic there was transiting the area on such a perfect day. Miles & miles without another boat in sight. Lyme Regis was busy, as was Torbay on the way back in.

Hi Matt,

Not sure how we missed each other - looks as if we were at Lyme around the same time. Thought it was too warm for fish & chips and settled for (what turned out to be a fairly mediocre) sandwich. not a pasty in sight.

Still strange how few boats were out - unlesst hey were just keeping well clear of me
