Don't forget that the VAT rate goes back up (a lot of good that did us!) from the 1st of Jan, it is only a fiver on 200 quid but "every little helps".

Also the boat show traders will most likely only do a deal if you are buying there and then, so if you do have a couple of grand to put their way then you will get a really superb price.

Thanks Malthouse - good point - as for buying up front .....

I was hoping I could take phone number of all those interested - if we couldn't get a good price before the Boat Show - and then ring through and exchange card details between buyer and seller.

I'm hoping we can get something sorted before then though

KY, Is it worth throwing a price into the mix at this stage?

We will be placing our last pre-Christmas orders later this morning. No pressure, just mindful that time marches on.

We can do - although on a personal level I'm not too fussed if it arrives in the New Year.

Anyway currently Malthouse can offer the McMurdo Fastfind 210 406 Mhz GPS PLB for .....

If ordering five or more, inclusive of VAT and postage £200 if ordered after the VAT increase they will be £205

Nasher and Bogi are also working on a few ideas but Malthouse is currently the cheapest quote to come in

Sea Safety

As an aside can I draw everybody's attention to the lifejacket crotch strap thread, in which Doug has very kindly offered to host a discounted Sea Safety Course for RIB.net members.

Everybody probably already knows that this course is considered essential.

New thread just for the course:

Thanks for that one Puffin -Marine Superstore are certainly offering a good deal - we have a couple of others still looking around but it might be the Boat Show is the answer.

Will give Marine Superstore a call after Christmas and see if they can offer any reduction based on numbers - anyone here have a warm contact??

Malthouse - many thanks for your time on this

No probs.

My advice would be to print out the MSS page and take it round the stands at the boat show, someone will beat the price just to meet quota.

(You will still need a well stuffed debit card though IMHO)

Well said. In fairness the non GPS version would probably suffice in the Solent or other well populated inshore areas, but the idea of a little imp that calls the coasties when you end up in the doo doo is very appealing. Better than waking up dead on Brighton beach at any rate.
