If I've won one of those you can join me with the paddles.... I couldn't afford to fill one with fuel! Almost wish I'd had a bid on one now.

Oh I beg to differ how about we go into the import business, yes slightly risky using a Crompton but with Red Diesel about to double inprice to £1 a litre and Jersey only 90 miles away still selling it tax free, you could spend you week driving a big rib rather than a HGV We would need a few of these to lash to the deck but shouldn't be a problem.

It'll take too long to list all the bids as they are only on down paper here but I still haven't heard anything. I sent the bid form in recorded delivery so I know it arrived on time. I'm assuming I didn't win anything. I bid via the auction company's auction form.
Besides, I'm getting bored of being hassled for answers and contact details via PM.

UK boatbuilder faces drug-smuggling retrial
By IBI Magazine
Ian Rush, head of Nautesco Marine, a boatbuilding company in Lincolnshire, will face a retrial on charges that he built boats for drug smugglers operating between Spain and North Africa. According to the Lowestoft Journal, Rush's three-week trial was ended after the jury failed to the reach a verdict.
Rush was charged with conspiracy to acquire criminal property. Prosecutors charged him with continuing the illegal work of Crompton Marine after its owners Ellen George and Neil Davison were arrested by UK customs in 2004 following a joint Spanish-British investigation. Officers discovered £1.2m hidden around the couple's home. Another €1 million and £39,000 in cash were uncovered during a search of the home in which Davison had been living near Malaga, Spain. George pleaded guilty to possession of criminal property and money laundering at an earlier hearing at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court. Davison remains on bail in Spain facing drug-smuggling charges.
During his trial, Rush admitted that the business he set up, called Nautesco Marine, built the same type of high-speed craft that Crompton Marine manufactured. But he insisted that he did nothing illegal.
Rush told the court that following the arrest of George and Davison, he decided to set up his own business to continue boat manufacturing. He denied prosecutors' claims that some of the 50 craft he built were knowingly sold for illegal purposes. Rush said that his business was entirely above board with records kept of all sales.
Rush also denied allegations that five visits he made to Spain to visit Davison in prison had been to plan the new venture. Rush admitted that he had paid Crompton Marine staff for the nine weeks they had been without wages following the arrest of George and Davison, but insisted that it had been a loan to be repaid when the company was able to resume trading.
A date has not yet been set for the retrial.

I'm not quite following the sequence here, but is company stock being auctioned off prior to a court verdict?
I doubt any manufacturer of go fast boats eg./ Fountain, Donzi, Buzzi) would ever set up any type of operations within the UK, given this court case.

It's definitely been auctioned-I've just had the auction house on the phone. I've got a load of small bits and bobs including an outboard, some aux brackets, deck fittings and a load of air tools.

That's Britain for you - good old Tony brought in loads of new money laundering laws etc etc to break up terrorism and organised crime - well that's the excuse they gave anyway.
There was a sickening case in my home town a while ago about a big property developer who had commited fraud. He was worth millions and a very respected businessman but when he got started he persuaded a few friends to take out mortgages on his behalf. The friends were paid - the mortgages were paid and he started a big empire. NOBODY was hurt and yet he nearly went to prison only escaping because his wife had cancer. He was ordered to pay the government £4,000,000 from the proceeds of his crimes - they even tried to get the future money he made legit. The reason given was that his actions hurt people by driving up house prices!!! Maybe by about 10pence!!!

"Judge Burr said he accepted that building societies and banks had not lost financially but said people who signed application forms had to do so honestly and enter correct details."
Note it was NOT the mortgage companies who notified the police - just someone jealous of his success - almost a dirty word in Britain.
