Buying a RIB

I am considering buying a RIB. I already own a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 655 and I have about 20 years experience of spending money on boats http://www.rib.net/forum/images/smilies/lol.gif.

I have my eyes on a Rib-X Explorer 640 fitted with a Suzuki 140hp four stroke.

I would appreciate the forums views on this setup, particularly...

Will this outfit be able to pull a 17st skier/wakeboarder?
How seaworthy are these RIBs?
Any views on Rib-X as a make?

Any anything else you think relevant

Thanks in advance for your views

Regards

Ian Wilson

RIBase
Hi Ian,

I've never owned one so can't comment on performance, but from what I've seen, I would check the strength of the deck areas particularly around any deck hatches (both the forward hatch and the one under the bench seat at the rack). I don't know if it was a common problem (where they haven't laminated the ply under the deck), but worth checking. I sold one a while ago http://kb-boatpark.co.uk/pages/86/rib-x-650-explorer
