Caesar Thunderbolt Review

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to find information on the Ceasar Thunderbolt boats. I can find plenty of information on the thundercat style boat but very little about its larger brother. The reason I ask, is I’ve read a couple short comments stating they are floppy and nothing like the race boats. Curious if I could get more details.

Being in Canada, any of these are basically none existent.

Can they be a good recreational lake boat for towing the family, while having tons of fun in the rough water?

I’ve contacted Ceasar and looking into different seating options that could work for my uses. My other option is bringing in a Chinese Rib, which no one on here likes. Lol.

I have a 70hp 2 stroke Nissan, and would like a 4 stroke in the future. Up to capacity of 90hp would be ideal.

I think the issue with the 5.3m Ceasar is the floor has too much flex. Could maybe bolt some aluminium angle onto it to strengthen it. Gemini also make some bigger cats, I think a 4.7m round nose which might be good. Gemini are much tougher boats too, can be made in hypalon which is good.

I’d avoid the Chinese ones at all costs, design just isn’t right and poorly made. Same with the American Dux hulls. 70hp should be ok on a 5.3m, a 90 2 stroke would be best.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder if the floorboard could be made one piece, or even laminated with a honeycomb piece to add more rigidity? Even fiberglass some small “stringers”? It’s hard to tell without having ever seen one?

I didn’t know about the round nose units. But after some research it seems a true catamaran style seem to have much better rough water ride characteristics

One piece floorboard is something I'm looking into at the moment in a Thundercat. But means you couldnt fold the boat up or remove the floor very easily. But its possible to strengthen it for sure. To be honest I think just a better quality floor would do, that material ceasar use just isnt very good.

The round nose Gemini is still a cat, like the Ceasar surfcat just a lot tougher. Have a look here - https://gemini-marine.com/product/grx-420/
Basically a zapcat underneath but a more usable boat all round
