Cavitation & Ventilation Plates

Standard on outboards is the Cavitation plate which is all part of the outboard lower leg casting.

In addition one can add a Ventilation plate.

Does anyone have experience of this? Do Cavitation plates stop ventilation.

Does adding a Ventilation plate help or are they a gimic?

i think your confused you have an anti ventilation plate that is sometimes incorrectly refereed to as a cavitation plate . this is the large casting plate above your prop .
are you asking about plastic doel fins that bolt to the ventilation plate and sort of make it bigger . they are used on small outboards to help low power outboards get a boat on the plane . if so i doubt you would need them with 2x350hp outboards on a 10m rib

Not quite a "starter" boat, I upgraded from a converted coracle with a 1967 5HP silver seagull engine on the back!
